This was one side of our walk-in cooler last week during University of Missouri’s graduation. At one point, we had over 60 cakes crammed in there. This week will be the same, since the high schools graduate on Thursday.
I had two different customers today that: 1) had ordered from us before, 2) I made their orders, 3) stopped by just to say thanks on my job well done, and 4) said they’d come to me from now on for all their orders.

My last day with Walmart is November 30th. I will then be a cake decorator at HyVee (right down the street). I am pretty happy. I only took a 55 cent pay cut to do about half the work. I don’t intend on staying with HyVee, but I needed a break from the stress. I couldn’t take it anymore, emotionally.
I was going to rant about the whole situation, but why. I’m moving on, and that’s good enough. :)
I think today made up for the past week.
I had my yearly evaluation re-reviewed and got what I wanted, finally. The pay raise difference between the first one and second was only ten cents, but it’s the principle of the matter.
Also, Colin finally got a decent job offer. We still need to discuss details, but this could be life-changing for us. I hope it’s as good as it sounds. I’m cautiously optimistic. :)
Finally, Alex is sound asleep, Colin is out of the house, and I had a chance to watch another episode of Supernatural. I want to watch more, but I know Colin won’t get up with Alex in the morning. So I’d better go to bed now and try and get some sleep. I’m off tomorrow, but I have a feeling I’m going to get called in….

![Neon cake.I’m not so happy about this one. More under the cut.

This customer wanted such an elaborate cake design, all with fondant, but in only 5 days. We went over what we could and couldn’t do in order to have the fondant dry in time, and price options. This is what she ended up ordering, which is the very basic cake base. Then when she picked it up, she was unhappy that the bottom tier wasn’t ocean blue… I thought it was (and is) but she wanted it rough-iced to look like waves, even though the order didn’t indicate such, and instructions said “smooth-iced”. I even offered to fix it, but she refused and was about to cry when she stormed off. I was mad at the time for all the time I put into the order, but it’s her loss. I could have easily fixed it; oh well!](http://25.media.tumblr.com/48e0230898d7a78f480f073a8bd5bd7c/tumblr_mip6a2ZC6r1rqu7vno1_500.jpg)
