A line of some of the generic cakes I made today.
This was one side of our walk-in cooler last week during University of Missouri’s graduation. At one point, we had over 60 cakes crammed in there. This week will be the same, since the high schools graduate on Thursday.
I’m not so happy about this one. More under the cut.
I had two different customers today that: 1) had ordered from us before, 2) I made their orders, 3) stopped by just to say thanks on my job well done, and 4) said they’d come to me from now on for all their orders.
I think today made up for the past week.
I had my yearly evaluation re-reviewed and got what I wanted, finally. The pay raise difference between the first one and second was only ten cents, but it’s the principle of the matter.
Also, Colin finally got a decent job offer. We still need to discuss details, but this could be life-changing for us. I hope it’s as good as it sounds. I’m cautiously optimistic. :)
Finally, Alex is sound asleep, Colin is out of the house, and I had a chance to watch another episode of Supernatural. I want to watch more, but I know Colin won’t get up with Alex in the morning. So I’d better go to bed now and try and get some sleep. I’m off tomorrow, but I have a feeling I’m going to get called in….
I took some time on my day off to begin the journey of becoming salaried. I had tried for TWO WEEKS at my own store to do the hour-long assessment, but could never complete it because I was interrupted so often. I went to one of the other stores in town and did it remotely. It was fairly easy, and passed with “Competitive” as my descriptor. :)
My next step is finding out how to enter into the training program. Unfortunately, there’s not many job openings in the area, but at least this much will be done.
